Yuri Lakhtikov started training in 1981 and coaching in 1986. International referee in karate (WKF, A-category) and kickboxing (WAKO, A-category).

Chair of the European Kickboxing Referee Commission and Vice-Chair of the WAKO World Kickboxing Referee Commission. WAKO Best World Kickboxing Referee (2010). General Secretary of the Estonian Kickboxing Federation. Co-author of a kickboxing tactics manual (2005).
