European Youth Karate Championships 2018
🥋 The 45th European Cadet and Junior Championships and the 10th U21 WKF Karate Championships took place in Sochi from 2 to 4 February 2018. The event brought together 956 athletes from 44 European countries, with each country fielding its top athlete in each weight category.
Estonia was represented by 11 karate athletes, including six from SK BUDO: Marta Osipova (U18 −59 kg), Anna Sokk (U21 −50 kg), Li Lirisman (U21 −55 kg), Nikita Sokolov (U18 −68 kg), Daniel Rodionov (U21 −67 kg) and Maksim Voronin (U18 +76 kg).
The athletes from other Estonian clubs were Denis Alipov (CM −57 kg), Albert Baranov (CM −70 kg), Madrid Babaev (CM +70 kg), Evgeny Glushko (JM −76 kg) and Erko Telp (U21 M −75 kg).

Marta Osipova contested four bouts and won two of them. Maksim Voronin lost in the opening round to a Finnish opponent who did not later reach the final.
The U21 athletes competed on the final day. Daniel Rodionov faced a Belgian opponent in the opening round. Anna Sokk contested four bouts and confidently earned a European Championship bronze medal.
Li Lirisman won five bouts and became European champion! It was an outstanding result for both the Estonian national team and SK BUDO.
